Megan’s Wings was established in January 2005 by the Savage Family in loving memory of their daughter, Megan, who lost her battle with ALL Leukemia on April 2, 2003. Megan’s Wings exists to help pediatric cancer families navigate through their journey with childhood cancer. Because we’ve been there, we understand what families go through. Megan’s Wings is a non-profit 501c3 assisting families across Southern California through the Children’s Hospitals and Cancer Centers. We are volunteer based and offer several aid programs which serve families within the cancer community. Our funding comes from corporate sponsorships and grants, individual contributions and fundraising events. It is our wish to ease the burdens of cancer on families and aid in the search for a cure.
The Beneficiary for 2022 is the Ovarian Cancer Center at UCI
UC Irvine’s Ovarian Cancer Center was formed in 2012—in collaboration with the Queen of Hearts Foundation—to provide the most advanced, personalized and comprehensive care to women with ovarian cancer in Orange County, Southern California and beyond.
Although ovarian cancer accounts for 3 percent of all cancers in women, it is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among U.S. women, according to the National Cancer Institute. About 22,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year; about 15,500 die from the disease. One reason for the low survival rate is that the disease often goes undiagnosed until it has spread far beyond the ovaries.
UC Irvine Medical Center is ranked among the nation's 30 best hospitals for gynecology services, in large part because of our outstanding gynecologic oncologists. Our vision for the Ovarian Cancer Center is to build on that expertise to create a locally, regionally and nationally dominant multidisciplinary center for ovarian cancer clinical services, groundbreaking research and community outreach
The Emerald Hope Foundation would like to thank all those who attended our Second Annual Gala. A roaring good time was had by all! We would also like to thank all those who contributed raffle prizes, silent auction items and the welcome champagne. Your support enabled us to make a donation of $16,000 to Breast Cancer Solutions.
The Emerald Hope Foundation is pleased to announce that that a donation of $16,000 has been made to
Breast Cancer Solutions (BCS) is a local Southern California agency. BCS was created in 1998 to eliminate barriers to breast cancer treatment for patients experiencing financial hardship. Since inception, the support of individuals, companies, and foundations has helped us assist over 4,000 clients who would have otherwise delayed, stopped or been denied treatment. Eligibility criteria include: diagnosis of primary breast cancer, treatment plan (verified by medical team), demonstrated financial need, and resident of Orange, San Bernardino or Riverside County (CA).
The Emerald Hope Foundation serves to unite a community of families affected by cancer for the purpose of funding cancer research and agencies providing support to cancer patients and their loved ones.
Cancer is a disease that affects everyone, the young, the old, the rich and the poor. It is fast overtaking heart disease as the the number one cause of death for both men and women in the U.S. and also the leading cause of death worldwide. Although cancer in children is rare, it is the leading cause of death by disease past infancy among children in the United States. The Emerald Hope Foundation is a multi-generational, volunteer group dedicated to raising funds to support cancer research and agencies that benefit patients and their families. The Emerald Hope Foundation is focused on fundraising for charities meaningful to their support group. Each year the charity selected to receive funding will be determined after input is solicited from their community of supporters.
